The Thermal Isolation Vessel (commonly known as a "puffer") acts as a mobile habitat. It uses high-loft synthetic baffles to trap a layer of dead air around the operator, creating a barrier that the external temperature cannot breach. 

This is not a "marshmallow coat." It is a piece of armor against entropy. The oversized chambers are engineered to maximize distance between your core and the freezing void. When fully zipped, you are no longer part of the weather; you are merely passing through it.
